Woman Sentenced To 34 Years Imprisonment For Alleged Forgery

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Maiduguri Zonal Command, today, Monday, October 4, 2021, secured the conviction and sentencing of one Dije Sale to thirty- four years imprisonment before Justice Umaru Fadawu of the State High Court, Maiduguri for forgery, use of false document, and obtaining under false pretence to the tune of N66million (Sixty- Six Million Naira).

She faked a ” Purchase Order” and utilized it to defraud the nominal complainant of N66m while claiming to be carrying out a supposed contract awarded to her by FHI 360, a Non- Governmental Organization, according to the court.

Despite being charged with three counts, the offender pled not ” guilty” to all of the allegations brought against her on July 1, 2020.

A total of four witnesses were summoned and many documents were presented before the court, all of which were accepted into evidence by the prosecution’ s attorney, Mukhtar Ali Ahmed, during the course of trial.

The prosecution had proven its case beyond a reasonable doubt, according to Justice Fadawu, who wrote in his decision that ” the court is convinced that the defendant is guilty of all three charges as charged. ”

He found the defendant guilty of all three counts and sentenced her to fourteen years in prison on count one, ten years on count two, and ten years on count three, among other punishments,

He directed that the sentence be served concurrently with the other proceedings in the court.

The court further ordered the convict to pay N54million in compensation to the nominal plaintiff, and stated that ” if she fails to do so, the convict would be sentenced to ten years imprisonment, which will be served concurrently. ”

In a separate occurrence, a lady named as Binta Balarabe Kubau was arrested and charged with fraud by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

M. T. M. Aliyu, the Chief Justice of Kaduna State High Court, condemned her to ten years in prison for cheating on one count in the court’ s proceedings.

A dispute arose after Idris submitted a petition to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) disclosing the manner in which he purchased land at the Millennium City Commercial Layout.
