Transfer: Manchester United Set To Miss Out On Ronaldo’s Replacement

Benfica’s Darwin Nunez is set to hand a blow to Manchester United’s transfer plans as he intends on moving to Spain this summer.

Nunez has been earmarked as a priority for Man United manager Erik ten Hag, who sees him as a long-term replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo at Old Trafford.

The Uruguayan striker scored 34 goals in 41 matches for Benfica last season and the Portuguese giants are realistic about their chances of keeping the 22-year-old.

Benfica have reluctantly put a £65m price tag on Nunez and Man United are prepared to pay the fee, feeling that he will be worth at least twice that in years to come.

But according to the Telegraph, Man United’s chances are fading by the day, with Nunez increasingly likely to move to Spain with Real Madrid seeking a long-term replacement for Karim Benzema and have money to spend after their failure to land Kylian Mbappe this summer.
