Shiites Ran For Their Lives Today, It May Not Have Happened If They Had Stayed At Home

According to Sahara Reporters, members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN) popularly known as Shiite ran for their lives today at the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja after joint security operatives allegedly opened fire on them.

The incident is said to have occurred at the Gwarinpa gate near Galadima when gun-wielding security agents arrived, people were left in disarray as scurried for safety. Two people were also said to have been shot inside the Estate new generation bank.

Members of the sect came out again on Tuesday morning to mark the forty-fifth anniversary of the murder of Imam Hussein, Prophet Muhammad’s grandson who was killed on the 10th of Muharram. Protesters in their thousands hoisted two flags, one red and one black while chanting songs.

There has been no love lost between the Nigerian security operatives and the Shiite Islamic group since the group obstructed the Convoy of former Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Buratai in Zaria. That incident led to the arrest of Shiite leader, Ibrahim Zakzaky and his wife.

The report of Shiites scampering for safety may not have happened if they had stayed indoors. Since they have been banned and barred from any form of protest by the Nigerian government following their clash with security operatives.
