Bank Worker Arrested For Staging A Robbery In Ogun State

The suspects

One Dare Olagoke, a staff of the Abestone Microfinance Bank, Abeokuta, have been arrested by the operatives of the Ogun State Police Command on Tuesday, for allegedly arranging with one Idowu Tunde, his accomplice, to dispossess him(Olagoke) of the sum of N3m belonging to the bank.

This was disclosed in a statement on Tuesday by Abimbola Oyeyemi, the state Police Public Relations Officer, stating that the suspect and one Mary Agbejo, a co- worker, had gone to withdraw the money at a commercial bank at Oke Illewo, Abeokuta.

The PPRO, further narrated that the a distress call from residents was put across to the DPO of Ibara divisional police headquarters that armed robbers attacked the two bank staffs while coming out of the banking hall with the money.

SP Segun Ajao, the Dvisional Police Officer of Ibara divisional headquarters, responding to the distress call, mobilized his men to the scene and subsequently arrested Tunde with the help of the members of the public.

The Police Spokesman said that Tunde, during interrogation confessed that Olagoke told him to rob them of the money and also provided the dummy gun he used for the operation, after informing him(Tunde) that their boss will be sending them(Olagoke and his colleague) to the bank to withdraw N3m.

Oyeyemi further narrated that Tunde said, while Olagoke and his colleague were inside the bank, he waited for them inside their vehicle which was deliberately left open by Olagoke as planned.

Oyeyemi said, ” While they got into the car, Tunde explained that he came out suddenly from the backseat and pointed a gun at the lady who was in possession of the money.

” But the lady noticed that the gun did not look original, consequent upon which she dragged the gun with him and raised the alarm. It was the alarm that attracted people who pursued them and called the police. ”
