N1 Million Bail Paid Each To Free Arrested Dowen College Students Involved In Sylvester’s Death

Dowen College students who were arrested for the death of Sylvester Oromoni Junior’s death, freed after being admitted to bail in the sum of one million nairas each.

The five students who are minors were charged with conspiracy and homicide of a 12-year-old schoolmate that occurred in November.

Yaba Chief Magistrate Olatunbosun Adeola, after listening to the bail application from the defendants’ counsel, demanded that the defendants produce two sureties each in like sum.

Each of the defendants’ sureties must be their parents and must have to swear an affidavit of compliance, said the Magistrate.

She added that the international passports belonging to all the defendants must be submitted to the court, their place of residence must be verified by the prosecutor and they must remain within 2 kilometers of their residence at all times.

Miss Ifeoma Eson, Mr. A.E Amah, Mr. Godwin Omoaka Se, senior Advocate of Nigeria, Mr. Eze Ajibo, and Mr. Michael Ayinla, the defense counsels, were in court for the minors.

The five students of the college were remanded in a juvenile home on December 9th over the death of Sylvester whom they tried to coerce to join a cult while in school.

The death of the junior secondary school pupil has attracted the attention of prominent Nigerians seeking justice for the late student.
