Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have killed three policemen and a commercial motorcyclist in Suleja, Niger State.

Daily Trust reports that the incident took place around 11: 00 pm on Thursday, May 12.

The policemen were reportedly responding to a distress call when they were ambushed near a place called Old Barracks.

Suleja Council Chairman confirm the incident

Suleja Council Chairman, Abdullahi Shuaibu Maje, who confirmed the incident, disclosed that about three persons, including a vigilante member, survived the attack.

He noted that they were currently being treated at a hospital in the area.
Police react

As at the time of filing this report, the Police spokesperson in the state, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, neither answered calls nor replied to the text message sent to him.
IPOB: 4 officers killed as gunmen attack police command

In another report, an attack allegedly carried out by suspected members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has led to the death of four police officers.

The attack which occurred on Monday, august 9, was as a result of the gun battle ensued between the police and unknown gunmen at the Police Area Command in Nnewi, Anambra state.

In a chat with Channels TV, the spokesman for the Anambra State Police Command, Tochukwu Ikenga, said that his office is yet to receive a detailed report on the incident.
IGP Baba says he became police boss at a very difficult time

Meanwhile, Usman Alkali Baba, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), has said he took over the reins of the force at a very difficult time.

President Muhammadu Buhari appointed Baba during the height of the insurrection of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) in April.

The militants had broken loose at the time burning down police stations and setting prisoners free.
