Former and Incumbent Governors Who Appointed Their Children Into Political Positions While in Office

According to a statement that was released by the Commissioner for Information and Orientation in Ondo State, Mr Donald Ojogo, the Executive Governor of the State, Rotimi Akeredolu has made appointment of his son, Babajide Akeredolu, into the position of the Director General, Performance and Project Implementation Monitoring Unit (PPIMU).

Following the appointment of Babajide Akeredolu as the Director General of the Performance and Project Implementation Monitoring Unit (PPIMU), Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, has joined other former and incumbent Governors in Nigeria who have decided to appoint their biological sons into political offices, directly, under their administrations.

Remarkably, the former Executive Governor of Plateau State, Jona Jang, appointed his biological son, Yakubu Jang, into various political offices, when he was serving as the Governor of the state.

It could be recalled that, in a statement that was released by the Plateau State Commissioner for Information, Mohammed Abubakar, during a press briefing on Sunday, December 21, 2014 it was announced that Yakubu Jang was appointed as the Commissioner for Lands and Urban Planning in Plateau State.

Besides, before Yakubu Jang was appointed as the Commissioner for Lands and Urban Planning by his father, Jona Jang, he was occupying the position of Special Adviser on Special Duties under the administration of his father.

Also, few months after the Executive Governor of Delta State, Ifeanyi Okowo, was elected for his second term in the office, he decided to appoint his daughter, Marilyn Okowa-Daramola, as the Senior Special Assistance (SSA) to the Delta State Governor on Girl Child Empowerment.

Remarkably, in October, 2019 Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State approved the appointment of his biological daughter, Marilyn Okowa-Daramola, into the position of Senior Special Assistance (SSA) to the Delta State Governor on Girl Child Empowerment.

Since 2019, Marilyn Okowa-Daramola has been actively serving as the Senior Special Assistance (SSA) to Delta State Governor on Girl Child Empowerment under the administration of his biological father, Ifeanyi Okowa.
