Chelsea have agreed a deal to sign Arsen Zakharyan
Chelsea have ‘agreed a deal’ to sign Russia and Dinamo Moscow midfielder Arsen Zakharyan – despite the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
Zakharyan has been touted as a top talent, and he has a £12.6million release clause in his contract. However, a deal looked tough to complete due to FIFA’s rules about signing Russia or Ukraine-based players.
There are also concerns about Zakharyan being able to secure a work permit in the UK due to the ongoing conflict. However, according to Russian media, the Blues have agreed to sign the 19-year-old and only personal terms remain.
The report adds that Zakharyan will remain on loan at Dinamo Moscow until Chelsea pays the fee – which will most likely be in January.
The Russian’s agent Rafaela Pimenta has described the deal as ‘impossible’ to complete on Transfer Deadline Day. He told Sport-Express: “Today, it is impossible to close the transfer of Zakharyan in the summer transfer window.
“This transfer is not frozen until winter, but it is possible. Now we are still working to ensure that Dinamo can get money from Chelsea.”

There are still numerous hurdles for Arsen Zakharyan to join Chelsea
And even though Chelsea have orally agreed a fee with Dinamo, sanctions on the Russian economy due to the war in Ukraine could block any move for the 19-year-old to move to west London.
Chelsea are looking to overhaul their squad with youth – and the Blues’ academy has already welcomed several new stars this summer.
