Vice President Yemi Osibanjo has reportedly reacted to the presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu picking a Muslim running mate for the 2023 presidential election.
Former governor of Borno state and serving senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Kashim Shettima emerged the vice presidential candidate of the APC at expense of an anticipated Christian running mate.
Consequently, there have been intense criticism against the Muslim-Muslim Presidential ticket of the APC with some members of the APC resigning their membership to the party in protest of what many regard as insensitivity to Nigeria’s religious sentiment and diversity
Amidst the controversy, Nigeria’s vice president, Yemi Osibanjo whose former boss is Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has been anticipated to speak on Bola Tinubu’s choice of a Muslim running mate despite being a Muslim himself.
In his reaction, professor Yemi Osibanjo noted that he does not support Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s choice of a Muslim running mate even though he supports his presidential ambition.
“I am not in support and I disagree with tinubu over his decision on muslim-muslim ticket”, he quoted to have said.
