Five students of the Lagos State University School of Communication (LASUSOC) have returned from a week-long fully paid field trip sponsored by the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC). The field trip, which was facilitated by BBC Africa’s Youth News Reporter, Damilola Oduolowu, an alumnus of the School, took place between Monday, 1st August and Friday, 5th August, 2022 in Lagos.
The students, Adegboyegun Temiloluwa Israel (m), OKaforwetife Esomchi Anthony (m), Udoh Elsie Abidemi (f) Thomas Gloria Omowunmi(f) and Fathia Muhammed (f) were camped in Victoria Island Lagos, and exposed to practical aspects of journalism by some of the best journalists from the global media house…Continue Reading
The five were selected following a seminar organised by the BBC for 100 level students at the School in May, this year where the freshmen were guided on questions around their chosen field, journalism, and the prospects inherent in it.
Dean of the School, Prof. Sunday Alawode, has described the one-week field trip as one that would significantly benefit the students and prepare them for the exciting future of journalism. He thanked the Mr. Damilola Oduolowu for facilitating the programme.
The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, mni, has also congratulated the students and charged them to ensure that experience from the training becomes a permanent part of them.
