Transfer deadline day is fast approaching, and that can only mean one thing – brilliant theories emerging amongst some Arsenal supporters on social media and in the forums.
Now, earlier in the summer, prior to Gabriel Jesus completing his £45m transfer from Manchester City and before the Premier League champions had officially signed Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund, the striker was regarded as a dream signing amongst a number of Gunners supporters.
In fact, despite transfer expert Fabrizio Romano pouring cold water over the possibility of the Norway international linking up with compatriot Martin Odegaard at club level, one Arsenal fan, in particular, had brilliantly theorised a scenario that ‘hinted’ that a deal was in place.
A few months have passed since that transfer theory, but it’s safe to say another has been conjured up, considering there’s still a lot more work for Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta and technical director Edu to do before the summer transfer window closes at 11pm on Thursday.
Whilst the Spaniard has certainly improved his first-team squad by bringing in Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko, there’s a feeling that the Gunners are still short a player or two hence links to the likes of Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans and Wolves winger Pedro Neto among others.
Whether the north London outfit are able to get any more players through the door at the Emirates Stadium before the September 1st deadline remains to be seen. Although, Edu appears to have innocently sparked a massive reaction from some supporters on social media.
As spotted and discussed on Reddit, an image of the Brazilian barbecuing over the weekend surfaced on Instagram and it has led to excitement regarding a signing that will be announced on deadline day, as user Unclelexx999 said: “I feel like they know how widely this gets circulated and are in on it at this point. Deadline day signing confirmed.”
Meanwhile, gunnen28 said: “That’s the smile of a man who has earned a day off. He knows business is done”, iantayls joked Edu was celebrating because “he just finished signing Tielemans”, and RobXGal said: “You know we are making a signing if Edu is cooking some meat on the grill!”
It should be noted that Arsenal’s focus since signing Zinchenko just over a month ago has been player sales. The fact that no deal for a potential incoming appears imminent at the moment indicates some supporters are getting a tad bit over excited as Edu barbequing had nothing to do with any transfer-related activity.
