APC Presidential Primary: Osinbajo Walks Out Of Convention Venue As Tinubu Maintains Lead

Yemi Osibanjo, Nigeria’s vice president and presidential hopeful on the APC platform, has stormed out of the Eagle Square, venue of the party’s ongoing presidential primary.

Osinbajo, who is trailing Bola Tinubu, who is reportedly establishing wide lead over other aspirants, stood up and left the venue.

Tinubu, a former governor of Lagos State appear poised to clinch the APC ticket ahead of Rotimi Amaechi, Ahmad Lawan and Osibanjo, The Witness reports.

There has been bad blood between the vice president’s camp and Tinubu’s camp, following the former’s decision to join the presidential race, which Tinubu apparently considers an affront.

Tinubu first brought Osinbajo to limelight by appointing him as Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice in Lagos.

Tinubu also nominated him as the Vice President to President Muhammadu Buhari following the victory of APC in 2015.

Indeed, Osinbajo was booed as a betrayer for contesting against his former boss and benefactor on arrival at the Eagle Square on Tuesday evening, June 7.

Collation of votes has ended and the results are currently being announced, with Tinubu in clear lead, Osinbajo in second position and Amaechi coming third, according to reports.
